What is Ayahuasca?
Ayahuasca (often known as Yagé in Colombia) is a dark brown liquid brew formed from mixture of 2 plants. The first is the Ayahuasca vine itself and the second is a leaf from a tree called Chacruna.
The Chacruna leaf is actually what contains the DMT (the pyscho-active ingredient). The Ayahuasca vine is cooked with the Chacruna in a large pot over a long period of time with water. What the Ayahuasca vine does is it blocks enzymes in your body from digesting the DMT from the Chacruna that would otherwise happen.
If you're wondering if Ayahuasca is a safe medicine, DMT is a body owned substance naturally occurring in all plants and life, so it's already part of our body. When Ayahuasca ceremonies are done in a great environment, with a supportive team, it's one of the safest medicines you'll find.
All our Ayahuasca at Ayahuasca House is prepared by Taita Jerado Silva, a master shaman living in Pitalito near Putomayo in Colombia, often with the help of Renato Simonelli.
We know we're a little biased... but we believe it's the best Ayahuasca you will find :)

Whilst it's difficult to describe an Ayahuasca Ceremony with words, it can be one of the most life changing experiences you will ever feel. However, there will be some difficult moments. For that we have a whole team of incredible people who are here to support you at every step of the way.

Are there any reasons why I can’t drink Ayahuasca:

It is NOT possible to drink Ayahuasca if you are taking psychiatric/anti-depressant/anti-anxiety medication. You must be free of this medication at least 2 weeks before taking part in a ceremony. Please let us know if you're taking this medication before confirming a retreat and we'll be very happy to discuss your needs with you
